Keynote Address

“Smart Grid: Definition, Concepts, Standards, Deployments and Lessons Learned”

The purpose of this talk is to familiarize participants with a definition of Smart Grid, including the state of the grid today and the new technologies being deployed for the future. Smart Grid concepts and the transition from products/systems to holistic solutions will be discussed. Industry standards efforts will be reviewed, including NIST, IEEE, CIGRE and IEC, and harmonization efforts globally. An overview of recent Smart Grid deployments will be given, including the lessons learned from the deployments.
